Light sugar cookies with a complex almond flavor.


  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2
Combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
Step 3
Add in the egg and break it up a bit with the spoon. Add in the shortening and the sugar. Mix well.
Step 4
Add the almond extract and the vanilla extract. Mix well.
Step 5
Take a spoonful of the dough and roll into a ball. Flatten and place on an un-greased cookie sheet.
Step 6
Bake for 8 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Step 7
Let the cookies cool before transferring them to a serving dish. Enjoy!
